Presented by Women of Faith Conference
Who: Any women who would like to use a summer study to reflect and reinvent their lives with grace
When: Fridays from 10-11:30 a.m. – Beginning June 12th
Where: Wesley Room, Trinity Episcopal Church (Childcare available, please let us know if you need it)
What: It begins with the Mary/Martha story and Jesus’ reminder: “Martha, Martha, you are worried and bothered about so many things, but only a few things are necessary, really only one, for Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her.” The exercises are about applying the lessons to your personal life and creating a personal vision, goals, and approach to making changes in your life that bring you closer to God and help you follow your callings.
We will be reading, studying and discussing Henri Nouwen’s book The Return of the Prodigal Son. Nouwen’s chance encounter with a reproduction of Rembrandt’s The Return of the Prodigal Son launched him onto a long spiritual adventure. In the book he shares the deeply personal meditation that led him to discover the place within where God had choosen to dwell.
When you are on our church campus, day or night, please be sure to lock any doors you unlock; Turn off the Lights; Be aware of people around the campus; Report any suspicious behavior to Kristen Curzan, Jr. Warden.
Calling all Trinity Women Readers
Now that school is out, and the pace slows down a bit, perhaps you have more time for reading! Come check out the Trinity Women's book club! Our next meeting is at 7:00 PM on Monday, June 22 in the Library. The book for this month is Loving Frank by Nancy Horan. According to "Publisher's Weekly", this novel is based on the life of Mamah Borthwick Cheney, best known as the woman who wrecked Frank Lloyd Wright's first marriage. Despite the title, this is not a romance, but a portrayal of an independent, educated woman at odds with the restrictions of the early 20th century. Frank and Mamah, both married and with children, met when Mamah's husband, Edwin, commissioned Frank to design a house. Their affair became the stuff of headlines when they left their families to live and travel together, first going to Germany, where Mamah found rewarding work doing scholarly translations of Swedish feminist Ellen Key's books. . ." Upcoming books on our list include A Thread of Grace and World without End.
